“It’s not about memorising the right answer.
It’s about knowing what to say.”

A DIFFERENT WAY TO LEARN

Less memorising.
More communicating.

Language isn’t a subject you passively watch. It’s a skill you actively use. That’s why our proposed learning model puts your voice at the centre of every course.

01

Understand your starting point

We learn about your background, goals and communication challenges before recommending a path.

02

Practise with a purpose

Speak, listen, problem-solve and respond to realistic situations alongside a trainer or other learners.

03

Receive feedback. Try again.

Use practical feedback, targeted digital activities and repeated speaking opportunities to improve.

04

Demonstrate what you’ve learned

Complete the required activities and an instructor-reviewed performance task to earn a Verbistry training-completion certificate.

BUILT FOR REAL-WORLD COMMUNICATION

Six skills. One confident voice.

Our aviation-focused learning pathway draws on the six language skill areas in the ICAO rating scale, helping you develop the ability to communicate — not just recall the right vocabulary.

ICAO ANNEX 1
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY FRAMEWORK
01

Pronunciation

Make yourself understood.

02

Structure

Put ideas together clearly.

03

Vocabulary

Find the words you need.

04

Fluency

Speak with natural flow.

05

Comprehension

Understand what you hear.

06

Interactions

Keep the conversation moving.

The six skill areas guide learning objectives. Training completion does not constitute an official ICAO proficiency level. Understand the distinction.
MORE THAN ONLINE LESSONS

Built to get you talking.

Digital tools should support real learning, never replace the conversation. Here’s a small taste of how a task-based experience could feel.

GOOD QUESTIONS, CLEAR ANSWERS

A little more clarity.

Everything you should know before starting your journey.

Do I need to know English before I start?+
No. English Foundations is intended for people who are starting from the beginning or need to rebuild the basics. We’ll recommend a suitable path based on your current skills and goals.
Are the courses completely online?+
Verbistry is designed around instructor-led, interactive speaking practice supported by online learning activities. Exact session formats, locations and availability will be confirmed when enrolment opens.
Does completing a course give me ICAO Level 4?+
No. Your Verbistry certificate can confirm successful completion of a training programme and the learning tasks you accomplished. ICAO language proficiency levels and licensing endorsements require a separate, appropriately authorised proficiency assessment.
Are the courses based on ICAO guidance?+
The proposed aviation English programme is being developed with reference to ICAO Doc 9835, Chapter 7, Circular 323-AN/185 and the language-skill framework in Annex 1. This is not an assertion that ICAO has approved or accredited Verbistry.
How is participation assessed?+
Our proposed completion model includes participation in speaking sessions, listening-and-response tasks, instructor feedback, and a final demonstrated performance task. Passing a multiple-choice quiz alone is not enough.
Can a South African flight school refer its students?+
Yes, we are developing a school partnership model. Language training and official proficiency testing should remain clearly distinct, with appropriate safeguards against conflicts of interest.
